MA in History Curriculum
Intellectual property protection 1 hour/week
The aim of the course is to develop a common system of knowledge and skills required in practice to implement the necessary tasks in the sphere of intellectual property. Students will be able to obtain comprehensive knowledge about various aspects of intellectual property: copyright and industrial property, the regime of legal protection of the objects of intellectual property.
Higher education and Bologna process 1 hour/week
The aim of the course: learning the basic objectives, principles and instruments adopted in the framework of the Bologna process, mastering methods and means of their implementation in higher education in Ukraine.
Sociology of religion 2 hours/week
Sociology of Religion examines the beliefs, practices and organizational forms of religion through sociological methodologies and instruments. Sociology of Religion examines the relationship between religion and society.
Civil defence 1 hour/week
The course aims to generate knowledge and skills on prevention of anthropogenic emergency situations and to introduce measures to reduce losses and expenses in the event of accidents, explosions, large fires and natural disasters.
European history of ideas 2 hours/week
The course aims at introducing students to the fundamental categories of thought which have shaped the western mind. One objective is to enable students to appreciate the diversity of traditions and modes of critical inquiry within Western thought. Fundamental to the course is an introduction to the main ideas of the great and writers.
Modern historiography 2 hours/week
The course examines historiography as a history of historical science, which includes knowledge of social conditions for the development and functioning of historical knowledge, methodological principles of historical research, the basic trends and schools of historical studies, establishment and operation of research, educational and other institutions, training historians, international relations and cooperation and a number of other components.
Pedagogy and Psychology of higher education 1 hour/week
The program of the integral course “Pedagogy and Psychology of High School” involves acquaintance of students with the laws and specifics of pedagogical process in higher education, vocational education and adult education as well as philosophical and psychological foundations of the process.
Philosophy of History 2 hours/week
The course addresses such important issues as the purpose and destiny of humanity, the sense of the latter and the role of the individual in it, the existence of some patterns in a continuous variation of individual lives. Every age, every society and every outstanding mind answered these universal questions in different ways. The explanation of the content and purpose of history has become an integral part of the ontological and epistemological discourse of humanity.
Cultural Anthropology 2 hours/week
The objectives of cultural anthropology as an educational discipline is to promote cognitive independence, comprehensive knowledge about modern anthropology, identifying key issues in cultural anthropology, forming an understanding of contemporary issues of culture and its development, acquiring the skills of comparative analysis of different cultures and different cultural environments.
Topical issues of European History 2 hours/week
The course has the format of the workshop. Its purpose is to familiarize students with the central concepts of European history and the historiographical debates on these concepts. The list of concepts that are used as subject of the seminars, is a common choice of teachers and students. The course focuses mainly on Modern period ( XVI-XX centuries).
